Sandy and Mary Beth's Big Adventure

These pictures are from Wissembourg, France.

all this way for ice cream? We're learning a little French, too. This place is about 50 miles from Enkenbach where we're launching from.

the canals, little venice, too beautiful. The church here is the second oldest in this region. All the villages are adorable and everyone has flowers in their windows. The villages are located in clusters with forests in between. The forests are well maintained and harvested like a crop. They each have Forest Meister to look after them. The streets are narrow, just like the movies. Lots of motorcycles everywhere it helps passing tour buses coming and going. Everyone is motorcycle friendly and the drivers are educated.

The downtown fountains, these townhomes are where the rich lived in the old days. We had a beautiful sunny day here.

Talk about a house settling. None of the glass here is broken. Would your house look this good after almost 600 years. A Ryan home?

This is from an upper terrace of Berg (Castle) Berwartstein, Hans Von Trapp's (aka "The Bogeyman's") Castle in Erlandback, Germany. It dates to a thousand years of age. It's built in to the rocky cliff and has never been seiged, from the middle ages thru the 2nd world war. It did suffer alot of damage from Allied bombing. The well is over 100 meteres (300 feet) deep and took 15 years to hand dig. Inside, you can see the walls of stone etched out with digging instruments.

The boys at the castle, a German girl was taking their picture too! Learning some Deutsch, the tour was in German and that was interesting. Gunther was very accommodating.
